An independent production company.
Rooted in the rich tapestry of North Yorkshire and Teesside, regions that have shaped my own narrative, I am dedicated to crafting stories that resonate with authenticity and emotional depth. My focus is on characters over 40, whose lives are often overlooked but are brimming with complexity and untold stories.
These narratives are not just about the characters themselves, but about the intricate web of relationships and the environment that shapes them.
The story behind the name
The name “Happy Pebble” harks back to a childhood ritual. As a child in the 80s, my walks to school were punctuated by a peculiar habit: rescuing lone pebbles. If I saw a pebble kicked aside, I felt an irresistible urge to find it or reunite it with a family of pebbles.
This act of kindness, though it often made me late to class, was a small rebellion against loneliness, something I abhorred.
It’s this spirit of empathy and connection that underpins our storytelling ethos at Happy Pebble Productions.

Set against the breathtaking backdrop of the North Yorkshire Moors, The Distance Between follows a middle-aged woman who, after losing her mother, rediscovers her passion for life and love through the lens of her camera.

Inspired by the iconic reunion of artists Marina Abramović and Ulay, the film explores grief, isolation, memory and the redemptive power of art and love.
